Reproduction ASS | Reproduction PGS | Koch Media BD PGS | Original subtitlesįrench dialogue - notice the typo in Koch Media BD subtitles May try and track down a copy of the AU BD to see if that has the burnt-in subtitles and good encoding (video bitrate is 31989 kbps, so could be good). Probably the most faithful option would be to blend in the subtitled areas from the US/UK BDs with DE BD. Still, I'm happy with the result which I feel is superior to Koch Media's attempt with its red translucent background and single dropshadow color. I've tried to replicate the subtitles closely and I used a BDRip of the US release as a reference, but keep in mind that the typesetting and positioning are not 100% perfect (for instance, ASS does not have proper support for vertical spacing). I did try the CC but the only language that seemed to. The English prints have subtitles for German dialogue with a red dropshadow and French dialogue with a blue dropshadow. Im watching this on Amazon Prime currently, and when they are speaking German there are no subtitles. A second trailer for the film was released in August 2018, and it did not include the allegedly Mendieta-inspired shots, which Amazon Studios said were removed from the final cut of the film.Wasn't sure in which subforum to post it in.ĪSS and PGS format soft-subtitle reproduction of the original burnt-in stylized English subtitles as seen in the English prints, timed to the German Koch Media BD without the burnt-in subtitles (should also work with the German UHD). The estate sent Amazon a cease and desist letter. The estate also cites an image of a bloody print of a body on a white sheet-a reference, it says, to Mendieta's 1978 photograph "Untitled: Silueta Series, Mexico". One image in the clip shows a pair of hands bound by rope, which the estate says is based on Mendieta's 1973 photograph "Rape Scene". The suit specifically references the film's first trailer, released in June 2018. Permissions are not granted for commercial reproductions. Image permissions for Mendieta's work are only granted for art historical contexts such as academic journal articles and informational articles directly related to the artist's work and practice. The estate demanded that Amazon Studios pay damages for using Mendieta's work without permission. Amazon "encouraged, assisted, induced, caused, and/or materially contributed to a vast number of actual or imminent copyright infringements" by way of images that evoke Mendieta's work, according to the suit. Guadagnino makes beautiful tables, beautiful curtains, beautiful dishes, all beautiful."Īhead of the release of the film, the Ana Mendieta Estate sued Amazon Studios in federal court in Seattle, alleging that the film (which is was distributed by Amazon in the United States) draws too heavily on works by the late artist. ![]() Instead, he’s in it for the long haul, insidiously working his way under your skin to disturb you deeply. He could have shocked you quickly with cheap scares. The film has not satisfied me so much." Argento added that it was "a refined film, like Luca Guadagnino, who is a fine person. Suspiria is as striking and severe as the director’s Call Me by Your Name, the best film of 2017, was warm and welcoming. In an interview with Italy's Radio Rai 1's "Un Giorno da Pecora" in January 2019, Argento said the film did not excite him: "It betrayed the spirit of the original film: There is no fear, there is no music. Luca Guadagnino told The Hollywood Reporter in 2018 that he's friends with Argento, who called him after he saw the film, and although he didn't want to relay Argento's reaction, he said it was a great call. Argento also said that what's really absurd is that he was never asked about anything concerning the remake, nobody asked him about casting, locations or anything else. Although Dario Argento gave permission to produce this remake, he was dismissive of the final results in an interview with Indiewire from August 2016: "Either you do it exactly the same way - in which case, it's not a remake, it's a copy, which is pointless - or, you change things and make another movie.
